Southern Animal Welfare League Non-Profit Pet Rescue EIN 57-1238819 The purpose and passion of Southern Animal Welfare League is to prevent the suffering, neglect and abuse of companion animals in Chester County, South Carolina. Our focus is on educating the public on the importance of altering their companion animals, offering a low/no cost spay & neuter program for those that need financial assistance. Saving animals abandoned and left in our local kill shelter, providing a safe haven and veterinary care before transporting these wonderful animals to our “no kill" partner groups in the northeast. Providing financial assistance for animals that may have an emergency health crisis while at our underfunded local kill shelter.

Benton County Animal Shelter

915 Divider and Natchez Trace Rd
Tennessee

bcashelter@gmail.com(731) 584-3152
We are a county funded, county owned animal shelter. Our primary mission is animal control. My personal mission is the return of every lost pet, finding homes for every discarded, surrendered, or otherwise displaced potential pet. No other occupation brings me as much joy and heartache. Our county as a spay neuter problem. It saddens me to know every day dogs and cats are breeding and the litters will show up at our doors. We have a functional capacity of 40 animals, with a maximum of 80. We currently house 63. Our shelter sees over 1000 animals a year through our doors. I want to educate the public of spay neuter, bring in grants to help the people do so, and get our intake down to a reasonable 300-400. If we can do it, I can ensure every animal is adopted back to our citizens, or rescued.

Hancock County Humane Society

214 E. Main St.
Indiana

hancockcountyhumanesociety@gmail.com(317) 462-5404
The Hancock County Humane Society is a no-kill*, non-profit animal shelter registered as a 501(c)3 organization. (We are not affiliated with, nor do we receive financial support from, the Humane Society of the United States.) This shelter has been in existence since 1977 and has always been staffed entirely by volunteers and funded entirely on donations from the local community. We strive to find permanent safe and loving adoptive homes for the pets in our care. We average 30-40 cats in our shelter and with foster volunteers. Our average intake of cats in a year, and adoptions of pets, is approximately 150. With the recent addition of a medical isolation suite to our facility, our volunteers in cooperation with local veterinarians are able to provide the daily care necessary to help more sick animals become healthy, adoptable pets. We work with other local shelters and last year rescued over 75 cats from facilities who are sometimes forced to euthanize animals due to illness or space limitations. We also work to provide our community with resources for necessary animal care services so more residents can keep their pets and avoid surrendering them to a shelter. Our pet food pantry is nearing its first completed year in service. We host annual low-cost vaccination clinics with local veterinarians to provide pet owners with affordable vaccines. We provide resources to help reunite lost pets and their owners. (And our pets are adopted with microchips that can be transferred to their new forever family.) We help scouting groups with pet-related education and service projects, and connect pet owners with spay/neuter resources to help reduce the population of unwanted animals. Our motto: "Kindness to Animals, Inevitably Leads to Kindness to People."
