I've been involved in basset hound rescue since 2004. I fell in love with the breed after rescuing one from the shelter. Since 20O06 I've been extremely involved with two basset rescues. The area up here can definitely support more than one rescue.

Genesis Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization based in Ottawa, Ontario. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, dogs from high-kill shelters and no kill shelters and we also take in owner surrenders who can no longer care for their animals. We do so by working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, and our trainers. We are able to rescue dogs in need and provide them with loving temporary care and find them well-matched carefully screened "furever homes". We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership. This includes the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training and good nutrition.

I volunteer cleaning the cat shelter, send Pet of the Week to area newspapers and add animals to the Pet Adoption Portal. I do it to help these homeless animals have a chance at a better life and hopefully be adopted.

We are an approved non-profit corporation with the state of South Carolina. We have received our 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. There is no public shelter to visit. Instead, our companion animals are lovingly cared for in one of our approved foster homes where they can more readily adjust to a family/home environment. It is our goal to place as many as we can in forever homes with people that appreciate the nobility and undying loyalty that is characteristic to the breed. All of our dogs are vet-checked upon rescue, spayed or neutered, brought up to date on all vaccinations and tested for heartworms. They are also temperament tested, checked for food aggression, compatibility with other dogs as well as children, and socialized extensively before being placed on our adoption list.

Pet Matchmaker South is a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue organization that rescues homeless and unwanted dogs from high kill shelters and abusive and neglectful situations in the southern United States.

With the help of myself and others, we rescue small breed dogs from high kill shelters, owner turn-ins, and displaced dogs. We adopt them from our home in Phelan and partner with PETCO on the weekends. We are devoted to providing lots of love, nurturing, socialization ( which is a big factor), and patience with the dogs in our care. In return, we want to find people who will love them as much as we do. We are located in the High Desert, Phelan, next to Victorville and Hesperia. We house dogs less than twenty pounds. Our Mission Statement: The Humane Society of Sullivan County, Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to the education of the public in the humane treatment of all animals, the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, and the importance of animal control through the promotion of spaying and neutering. We have just built a new building costing over $200,000. Residents of Sullivan County have been very enthused to help get a shelter going.

We are here to save needless killling of shelter dogs from death and place them in foever homes.

ABARC is a dedicated group of long time friends that share their love for animals and animal rescue. We are a new rescue and have filed for our NC non profit status and hope to have our federal paperwork filed in the coming months. We rescue mainly from high kill shelters in NC and surrounding states and sometimes even beyond. Even though we are a new rescue we have 30+ years of combined experience in animal related fields.

Saint Francis SPCA is a No-Kill, not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization that was founded August 1975. The shelter is located one mile north of the Illinois-Wisconsin border in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Saint Francis SPCA provides high quality care and shelter for as many as 100 homeless dogs, 100+ homeless cats, and some hooved animals. The birdhouse, with pond, provides shelter for a variety of wild and domestic fowl. We resolve to protect, rehabilitate, and provide new and good lives for those who look and feel the worst. It is they who need us the most, who society has hurt the most, and to whom we owe the most.Saint Francis SPCA believes that no animal should be killed because it costs too much money or it is too much trouble to fix a broken leg or a broken spirit. Saint Francis SPCA believes that death is not the only escape for the abused, the sick, the scared, the abandoned, the starved, and the ugly.
