Standard Poodles in Need, Rescue & Re-home

PO BOX 80042 3100 Garden Street
Whitby
Ontario
L1R 0H1
standardpoodlesinneed@gmail.com
Standard Poodles In Need, Rescue & Rehome (SPIN) is a non-profit, foster-based organization primarily concerned with the welfare of homeless or unwanted standard poodles but also with the welfare of toy poodles, mini-poodles and poodle mixes. All dogs entering our program are spayed or neutered, microchipped, brought up-to-date on shots and have had their medical needs attended to. Once we deem a dog to be ready for adoption, SPIN then actively seeks out well-matched permanent homes. Our foster program enables us to observe the disposition and needs of each individual dog and work on any required behavioural or training issues. Our adoption screening process is quite rigorous and is designed to aid prospective adopters in the selection of a pet that fits the personality, desires and lifestyle of the family. SPIN strives to educate and raise public awareness about how to be responsible for and share your life with a companion animal. We talk about the importance of spay/neuter programs, the deplorable conditions found in puppy mills and advocate for change. We are most proud, however, of our work in engaging like-minded people together by providing a forum to discuss how to care for and celebrate the poodle breed, but also to come together when necessary to help poodles in need.

Many animals are left to suffer on the street or are abandoned or killed by their owners. The lucky ones are taken to open-admission shelters. Many of the animals who make it to The Rainbow District Animal Shelter (an open-admission shelter) are reclaimed by their guardians or adopted into new homes.

Animalert Pet Adoption Inc.

Ontario

Animalert@rogers.com(519) 642-7732
Animalert was founded in London, Ontario, Canada in 1977 by four animal lovers who wanted to ensure that pets were adopted by caring guardians. We now have about 35 active members, plus our large network of volunteers, which helps us spread the word about our adoption program and raise funds to offset our operating expenses. We are able to place about 250 cats and dogs a year into responsible, loving homes. Not bad for a volunteer group, but we'd like to do better and with your help, we can! Animalert focuses on three main areas: Adoption, Education, and Spaying/Neutering.

Spaniel Rescue was founded October 16, 2011. We primerely rescue spaniels but we will take in other small breed dogs whenever we can. I choose spaniels because l adopted a spaniel from a puppy mill when he was just 3 1/2 months old and almost died several times. It just seemed to be the right breed to start and rescue. Since l was a child l would bring home stray animals including a goose, snake, frogs, dogs, kittens, crow and other birds. It is just who l am and will continue doing this work with my final breath.

Jack Russell Rescue has been around for approximately 10 years. We focus on this breed as they are very often misunderstood and people adopt them without fully understanding the breed. We work with shelters, other rescues and individuals that have a JRT in need. I have been a foster for the past year and have been the foster home manager for the past 9 months. I respond to requests to bring a Jack into care, place them in foster care, collect information on the dogs, make sure all vetting is complete, and am there to support the foster families. I do this for the dogs to have a second chance. I have fostered 16 dogs so far and they have all come from bad situations into great homes.

All Breed Canine Rescue [ABCR], a small group of volunteers who saw the great need to rescue dogs that other better-established mainstream groups will not help. Some of our rescues are shelter dogs, or dogs that need new homes because their owners are sick, have moved, or their life situation has changed. Based in St. Thomas, Ontario , we cover • Elgin, • Middlesex and • Oxford counties. We also work with rescue network across North America. We are a small new group of volunteers, trying to do a big job, with big hearts, few foster homes, and limited resources.
