We are an all volunteer non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization who's main goal is to eliminate unwanted cats and kittens throughout Horry County through promotion of TNR program. We are all cat lovers, many with over 20 years experience in rescue. We feel that euthanization is not the way to control cat population. We do not abort a pregnant cat - instead we foster until she's had her babies, adopti out the kittens and spay mother, ultimately returning her to the location she came from if it's a safe area. Otherwise, she will be relocated to one of our own colonies where we feed and water the cats daily.

We are a foster based organization, we help a lot with medical and with families that have lost a loved one and the pet in the home has no where to go. Instead of the pet sitting in a cage in the shelter we find a place for them to feel comfortable during the trying time. We also help families that have to have temporary foster due to domestic violence.

EIN# 84-1846620 We are an animal advocacy group/dog rescue, based in the Upstate of South Carolina. The horrific case of an abused dog brought this group to life. His name is Champ, a Mastiff-mix who was found chained to a tree, severely emaciated, and near-death in Laurens County, SC. Our members, from across the US and around the world, have come together to fight for Champ and all abused animals. A new non-profit, however, our group has been operating for a little over a year, with a steady 4,600 member following. As a group, we’ve done some exciting things in our short existence. A few of our highlights include; a highly successful email campaign to have charges in the case of Champ, upgraded to a felony against his abuser, a demonstration outside the Laurens County Courthouse. Fight Like A Champ was immensely involved in South Carolina Senate bill S.105, The Animal Welfare Bill with Humane Society of the United States on Humane Lobby Day at the Statehouse in Columbia, SC. We work tirelessly, attending any county council meetings we can get on the agenda for. Our group was utilized to help pass tethering ordinances in both Spartanburg and Greenville counties. In addition to running our own rescue and advocacy work, we’ve helped numerous private citizens obtain spay/neuter services through our friends at SPEAK FOR ANIMALS. We LOVE to help our friends in the rescue community in any way we can. Whether it's through fostering for them, helping them out with a food donation, or helping raise funds for specific special needs animals. We like to help those who help others. By working together we can help more, do more , be more effective advocates for the animals we represent. We “liberated” a Husky who’d spent the entirety of his four years chained to a tree in Lyman, SC. We’re happy to report he's been successfully vetted including neuter and is being adopted by his foster family. We specialize in orphaned bottle puppies, but have a strong passion for pit bulls and black dogs too. All medical care is provided for all rescue dogs including but not limited to, spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, flea and heartworm preventative. We currently have seventeen dogs in the custody of our rescue. We have big plans for the future as well. With our 501c3, we will have the ability to do so much more for the community. The establishment of a “pop-up pet food bank’, is one of our dreams. We believe that helping people in need with what seems so small to us, can actually help keep a pet in a home and out of a shelter. Through our “pop-up pet food bank’, we plan to distribute educational and information handouts containing information on other available community services for pet owners, spay and neuter info, vaccination and vet info, and how to report animal abuse. In our wildest dreams, a building where we would house more animals pulled from “high kill” shelters and enough funds to feed and vet them while they search for forever homes. Thank you for your interest in our passion for saving lives. We appreciate your love and support. You can follow our advocacy adventures on our Facebook page or join our facebook group. Safe Haven 4 Cats SC is a corporate non-profit 501 (c) (3), no kill, all volunteer organization founded to “Help Stop the Endless Cycle” of unwanted cats in Horry County: feral, homeless, abandoned, abused and neglected, through no fault of their own. Adoptable cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, receive veterinary care as needed, and are nurtured until a forever and loving home is found. We advocate and support Trap-Neuter-Release Feed (TNRF) programs and work with local veterinarians to provide low spay/neuter services to those cat owners who are unable to afford medical treatment. Safe Haven 4 Cats SC is dependent entirely on the public’s generosity through donations. Fundraising efforts and events are initiated with the sole purpose of providing a better quality of life for all cats. What We Do:
Volunteers educate the public to encourage the spaying/neutering of cats in order to reduce the senseless number of cats and kittens euthanized daily. We provide a low cost spay/neuter program for anyone needing assistance in getting feral or friendly cats spayed/neutered. Spay/neutering, Rabies vaccination, worming and flea treatment for $45 for male & $55 for females. Testing for FELV/FIV & FVRCP Vaccinations are provided at a low additional cost and is recommended, but not required. It is recommended that Feral cats are ear-tipped for identification purposes and returned to their colony and is included in cost of spay/neuter, there is no additional cost. Cats that are suitable for adoption are tested for feline leukemia (FELV) and feline aids (FIV), wormed, provided flea treatment, spayed/neutered, receive distemper vaccinations, etc., to assure that they are healthy and sociable. If you need help in trapping a feral cat, we can lend you traps and some assistance in trapping. Foster homes are provided for friendly, domesticated cats and kittens until a permanent honey is found. Volunteers trap and transport feral/free roaming cats to one of our low cost spay/neuter clinics where they are sterilized and given their rabies vaccinations. Feral cats are ear-tipped for identification purposes and returned to their colony. Additional medical care is rendered as needed. Feral colonies are monitored daily by volunteers and provided with fresh food and water so that they remain healthy. Feral kittens are fostered and nurtured in a loving home in order to acclimate them for adoption. Cats that are in a dangerous or abused and neglected situation are relocated to a safe environment after receiving preventative veterinary care. Our Goals:
Safe Haven 4 Cats SC is relentless in protecting the feline population in the Horry County area. Dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted cats and kittens through adoptions, we aim to provide a safe and secure sanctuary where homeless and unadoptable cats will be able to live out their remaining years in a safe and sheltered environment. With continued growth in our membership and volunteer network, we are certain that we can make a positive difference in the lives of cats and kittens throughout our area. I am Virginia Talley one of the executive officers of Safe Haven 4 Cats SC.
